BFGOODRICH CELEBRATES 150 YEARS

In 2020, BFGoodrich celebrates a milestone 150th year of tyre manufacturing

Ever since its humble beginnings in 1870, when Dr Benjamin Franklin Goodrich founded the first tyre factory in Ohio (North America), BFGoodrich says performance has been an integral part of the brand.
This focus led Charles Cross Goodrich, son of Benjamin, to establish the very first tyre research centre in the United States.
The first car to make history and cross the North American continent in 1903 was the Winton touring car, and it accomplished this running on BFGoodrich tyres.
BFGoodrich tyres were also shod on the famous Spirit of St Louis, a custom-built single engine, single-seat monoplane flown by Charles Lindbergh from Long Island, New York to Paris, France in 1927. It was the first nonstop transatlantic flight in history.
BFGoodrich explains it also created the world’s first all-terrain tyre, taking vehicles beyond the roads to create new journeys and enabling enthusiasts to find a new level of freedom.
Today, BFGoodrich says its products “are desired by the ultimate adventure seekers and remain the benchmark for other brands to aspire to in off road tyres.”
The brand has also achieved victory in some of the biggest races across the globe, from success at the Indianapolis 500, 24 Hours of Le Mans, Baja and Dakar Rally to the famous FINKE Desert Race right here in Australia.
After breaking records on land and in the air, BFGoodrich also mastered another extreme environment – space. BFGoodrich explains that NASA relied on BFGoodrich when the Columbia Space Shuttle launched in 1981. This first ever, re-usable space shuttle spent two days in space, orbiting the earth a total of 36 times, and after a successful maiden voyage, BFGoodrich tyres were there for the touchdown.
In its 150 years of manufacturing, BFGoodrich says it has cemented its reputation as a brand through extreme capability and proven performance to become a brand built for driving enthusiasts, by driving enthusiasts.
As a manufacturer BFGoodrich reports it is constantly at the heart of the action, continuously learning in an effort to bring the best developments to consumers, no matter what or where they drive. With strong values like this, it says there are no limits to the achievements still to come.
The BFGoodrich product range includes its well-known Off-Road Tyres (KO2, KM2, KM3 mud terrain), On Road Tyres (Advantage T/A Range, g-Force Sport Comp2 and Radial T/A), Racing Tyres (Baja T/A K Range) and Truck Tyres (Route Control, Heavy Truck).
