CLUTCH INDUSTRIES’ OEM REPLACEMENT FLYWHEEL PROGRAM

The company says this program delivers faster jobs and better results

Clutch Industries states that its OEM replacement flywheel program is helping workshops save time and improve results on clutch replacement jobs — especially in 4×4 and light commercial vehicles.
Most mechanics know the frustration of waiting on a flywheel grind.
After surveying workshops across Australia, Clutch Industries says that it found that on average, 4.5 hours of hoist time is lost while a flywheel is sent away for machining, along with an average cost of around $100 per grind, noting that this is an expensive delay that eats into productivity and profitability.
To solve this problem, Clutch Industries explains that it developed the OEM replacement flywheel program to give workshops a faster and more reliable alternative.
Instead of reworking worn flywheels, mechanics can now install a brand-new OEM-spec flywheel straight off the shelf.
According to Clutch Industries, replacing rather than grinding offers several clear advantages:
• Faster turnaround: no waiting for external machining — get vehicles off the hoist
sooner.
• Comparable pricing: once grinding, freight, and downtime are factored in, a new flywheel is generally cheaper.
• Better performance: new flywheels can prevent issues such as clutch shudder, slip, or engagement noise.
• Restored specifications: maintains correct factory geometry for proper disengagement and restores the ring gear to its original condition.
• Customer value: supplying a brand-new component enhances customer confidence and reinforces workshop professionalism.
The range currently covers around 50 percent of popular single-mass applications, with new part numbers being added regularly.
Demand has been strongest from 4×4 applications — vehicles like the Hilux, Ranger, and LandCruiser — where durability is critical.
Clutch Industries Sales Manager Justin Batten said workshops are seeing real-world benefits.
“Repeated flywheel grinding during successive clutch replacements alters critical dimensions such as clutch geometry and finger height, often resulting in release problems,” Justin said.
“Installing a new flywheel restores the clutch system to factory specification, ensuring optimal operation.”
Available through your local Repco or NAPA branch, workshops can now purchase the clutch and flywheel together — everything needed to complete the job efficiently and confidently, says Clutch Industries.
