Milwaukee Tool says it is setting the standard for the future of cordless hand-held automotive equipment

While much of the emphasis in the media on the changing automotive industry of late has been around the electrification of drivelines, Milwaukee Tool says its focus is on providing the right tools to work on the vehicles of tomorrow, and it claims its range of high torque impact wrenches will set the benchmark.
Milwaukee Tool claims that it continues to set the standard for cordless impact wrenches by taking the performance of the new M18 FUEL ONE-KEY High Torque Impact Wrenches to the next level.
Available in three different models – half-inch friction ring, half-inch pin detent and a three quarter-inch friction ring – the M18 FUEL ONE-KEY High Torque Impact Wrenches provide a powerful fastening solution to outperform pneumatic, corded and other cordless products in the market today.
The M18 FUEL ONE-KEY High Torque Impact Wrench allows users the opportunity to finally eliminate hoses and cords once and for all. The new range delivers up to 1491Nm (half-inch friction ring), 1897Nm (half-inch pin detent) and 2043Nm (three-quarter-inch friction ring) of nut busting torque.
With the addition of ONE-KEY features, it says users have greater control over performance and deliver repeatable torque results resulting in reduced damage to materials and efficiency across the job site.
The new models are designed with a four-mode Drive Control feature, providing the user with the versatility to switch between modes to match the power and speed to the application at hand.
A new Bolt Removal Mode provides maximum nut-busting torque to remove the most stubborn bolts or nuts and, as soon as it senses the bolt or nut is broken free, the tool then shifts to 750RPM for unmatched control when removing fasteners.

The ONE-KEY System
The ONE-KEY system is the first digital platform for tools and equipment. The application offers a variety of functionalities to increase company and user productivity – including the ability to manage inventory, track tools in real-time, and even customise compatible products.
With community Bluetooth tracking, barcode scanning and geofencing, staying on top of your equipment is easy. ONE-KEY gives the end user complete control and visibility of inventory across any job, crew and location; while real-time alerts help prevent loss and expensive setbacks.
Importantly, the ONE-KEY inventory management puts time back into the end user’s day, so they can focus on the job at hand. It streamlines processes with one digital catalogue that the user’s team can access from anywhere to gain more insight on how the equipment is working for them.
Through ONE-KEY, users will be able to customise, track, and manage the new impact wrenches. The ONE-KEY Integrated Tool Tracking functionality will also allow users to identify where and when their impact wrench was last seen. Records and locations will update when any device with the ONE-KEY app comes within 30m of the impact, allowing the user to quickly pinpoint missing tools.
At the same time, Integrated Tool Security will provide an extra layer of protection to prevent theft and tampering.

Disruptive Innovation
Milwaukee Tool says that, since the company began in 1924, it has been an industry-leading manufacturer of heavy-duty power tools, accessories and hand tools for professional users worldwide and says its commitment to improving productivity across the job site by providing performance-driven and trade-focused solutions is a testament to its disruptive innovation and game changing technology.
It says the M12 and M18 cordless solutions were developed to be the ultimate combination of professional grade power, extreme performance and superior ergonomics. With patented technologies, innovative motors, advanced electronics and the industry’s best battery technology; Milwaukee Tool explains that the M18 family has been the fastest growing 18V cordless system on the market since its inception.
Milwaukee didn’t just stop at cordless power tools either, it says, stating that it began to breathe new life into the jobsite by going beyond the requirements of the end-user and providing productivity enhancing solutions that are unparalleled in the industry.
With its range of storage solutions – including the revolutionary PACKOUT Modular Storage System (which is designed to provide users with the ability to interchange and interlock a wide assortment of heavy duty toolboxes, organisers, and storage totes in multiple configurations); a range of Steel Storage Systems with built in charging ports; and diagnostic tool storage; a range of accessories optimised for cordless productivity – its hand tools (with innovative features unseen in any industry to date) and high output lighting, Milwaukee says it works side by side with users to understand the demands of a constantly changing workplace and how they can best deliver solutions that help the user work both faster and smarter.

As such, Milwaukee says it knows that professional users sweat the small stuff, and so does Milwaukee; so it says it pays attention to the small details that make a big difference and this user focus not only leads to solutions for real jobsite challenges, but fuels the disruptive innovation seen across all product lines.
Milwaukee Power Tools began at the same time as Henry Ford started assembly lines for his famous invention, the T Model Ford. In fact it was Henry who was responsible for the company’s very first tool that itself became a legend.
Known as “The Hole Shooter,” aptly named for what it did, this tool was commissioned by Ford as a result of his daily visits to the factories. He noticed that the workers on the line that drilled holes in the metal parts were using cumbersome, heavy and unwieldy drills. Not only was it wearing out employees, but it was also slowing down the other lines.
He asked Milwaukee Tool’s founder, a chap called Petersen, to design and build a small, lightweight drill with enough “grunt” to replace the existing clunkers. Within months Henry Ford held the compact and powerful Hole Shooter in his hand. He was so delighted that Petersen knew that he was on a winner and Ford’s first orders confirmed it.

Fast-forward to 2020 and Milwaukee Tool has grown into the company you see today with a core trade and user focus with the automotive sector firmly in sight. It even now has a dedicated Automotive Solutions team across Australia servicing the automotive industry.
