Don Kyatt Spare Parts has been named the Governor of Victoria Exporter of the Year in the Manufacturing and Advanced Materials category, recognising the company’s sustained international growth and its contribution to showcasing Australian engineering and manufacturing capability on the global stage.
The award was presented by Victoria’s Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, at Government House in Melbourne on September 3, and was accepted by Don Kyatt Founder and Managing Director, Frank Hutchinson.
Now in its 57th year, Don Kyatt Spare Parts has built an international reputation through its flagship Terrain Tamer 4WD brand, supplying a catalogue of more than 60,000 automotive components to customers across more than 80 countries.
The company’s export success is built on a distinctly Australian approach to product development, drawing on decades of experience in some of the world’s harshest operating environments.
Terrain Tamer products are designed and engineered from the company’s Victorian headquarters to meet or exceed Original Equipment specifications, with applications spanning mining, agriculture, defence, infrastructure, emergency services, and remote transport.
Over the past three years, Don Kyatt’s export sales have grown significantly, with international sales now representing over a quarter of total company revenue.
The company exports through nine company-owned international branches, on top of the 10 around Australia, and a network of more than 50 independent stockists.
A significant recent milestone has been the establishment of Don Kyatt’s North American operation, providing a strategic entry into the world’s largest automotive aftermarket.
Senior Australian employees were involved in establishing the operation, helping embed the company’s technical expertise, culture, and customer service standards in the new market.
Don Kyatt has also continued to expand across Latin America, Africa, Europe, and the Pacific, supported by its strategy of combining a consistent global brand with local market expertise.
International branches provide local warehousing, technical support, and customer service, while Australian teams continue to provide leadership, training, and operational support.
Frank said the award was recognition not only of Don Kyatt’s international growth, but of the people and Australian capability behind it.

As the Victorian category winner, Don Kyatt Spare Parts will now represent Victoria at the Australian Export Awards, competing alongside leading exporters from across Australia.
