GET YOUR CUSTOMER’S BRAKES HOLIDAY READY BEFORE THEY TOW

As the holiday season approaches, many customers are preparing their vehicles for longer trips, heavier loads, and more demanding driving conditions

Trailers, passengers, luggage, roof-rack equipment, caravans and more all add weight, increasing the energy the braking system must manage each time the vehicle slows.
Combined with highway travel, stop-start traffic, and extended downhill sections, these conditions can expose weaknesses in worn pads, damaged rotors, or components operating close to their limits.
DBA’s 4000 Series provides an upgraded rotor option for vehicles exposed to higher thermal and load demands, including towing, increased vehicle weight, and repeated heavy braking.
Manufactured using high-carbon cast iron and subjected to DBA’s Thermal Stability Profiling process, the rotors are engineered to help manage the repeated heat generated during demanding braking.
Depending on the application, 4000 Series rotors may also feature technologies such as DBA’s Kangaroo Paw ventilation system and T3 slot designs, which are designed to support heat management and maintain a consistent friction surface.
DBA’s Thermo-Graphic Heat Paint (TGHP) markings are also standard on 4000 Series rotors. The colour-changing markings provide a visual indication of the peak temperatures reached by the rotor.
DBA Street Performance pads are designed to provide improved braking characteristics over traditional OE pads and are recommended for daily drivers, performance vehicles, 4WDs and SUVs. They can also be used with DBA performance rotors, including 4000 Series applications.
For vehicles operating under towing or increased load, Xtreme Performance pads may also be appropriate.
A customer’s travel plans, vehicle load, towing requirements, and route are all factors worth discussing during a pre-holiday service.
The cost and inconvenience of a brake issue are often greater once a customer is away from home. Brake shudder, reduced braking performance or excessive heat during a long descent can quickly disrupt a holiday trip.
Holiday servicing is not only about checking whether a component has reached its wear limit. It is also an opportunity to consider whether the vehicle’s braking system is suitable for the demands it is about to face.
For workshops, raising that conversation early can help customers address potential brake issues before they become trip-ending problems.
