GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS POWER AUTOMOTIVE FUTURE
International collaboration is emerging as a critical driver of automotive innovation, with supply chain partnerships taking centre stage in Taiwan recently

A key focus of the 2026 360° Mobility Mega Shows, organised by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), was the growing importance of global cooperation in shaping the future of mobility.
That message was reinforced during a keynote presentation from representatives of Canada’s Ontario region, which highlighted how integrated supply chains are becoming essential to industry growth.
Ontario’s automotive sector alone produces more than 1.3 million vehicles annually and is supported by over 700 parts suppliers, forming a highly developed manufacturing ecosystem.
But what makes the region particularly relevant to the future of mobility is its ability to combine traditional manufacturing with advanced technologies.
Significant investment – more than $46 billion in recent years – has been directed toward electric vehicle production and battery development, with the goal of creating a complete end-to-end EV supply chain.
This includes everything from raw materials and battery cells through to final vehicle assembly and recycling, highlighting the scale of coordination now required across the industry – an approach which mirrors a broader global shift which is now underway.
As vehicles become more complex and technology-driven, no single region can deliver every component or capability required. Instead, success increasingly depends on collaboration between countries, industries, and technology providers.
According to TAITRA, Taiwan has a critical role in this network.
With strengths in semiconductors, electronics, and flexible manufacturing, the country is well positioned to support the development of software-defined vehicles and advanced mobility systems.
At the same time, TAITRA explains that Taiwan’s ability to adapt to geopolitical and supply chain disruptions has made it a reliable partner in an uncertain global environment.
The organisation, through its initiatives such as the 360° Mobility Mega Shows, international forums, procurement programs and market exchange events, works to strengthen these connections by creating opportunities for collaboration between Taiwanese companies and global industry players.
Programs such as the Global Mobility Market Outlook and Strategic Procurement Exchange are helping businesses better understand regional demand and identify new partnership opportunities.
As supply chains become more complex and technology-driven, access to reliable partners and innovative solutions is becoming increasingly important for the automotive market.
Indeed, TAITRA states collaboration is no longer optional; it is essential for staying competitive, and Taiwan’s approach reflects this reality.
Through its global engagement efforts, TAITRA seeks to give aftermarket businesses a direct pathway to participate in that evolution.
