PCB SELECTS PRECISION AUTOMOTIVE EQUIPMENT
One of Australia’s largest Porsche dealerships has completed a refurbishment with Precision Automotive Equipment
Porsche Centre Brighton (PCB) in Victoria has recently completed a full refurbishment of its service workshop. Awarded to Precision Automotive Equipment, this refurb included new oil and air lines, vehicle hoists and a transformation of the wheel service division.
One of many key requirements was to enable the PCB site to continue to operate while the refurb took place.
The Precision team engineered and fitted remote fill and waste collection points, complete with access points fixed to an external wall of the property. This system completely eliminates the need for trucks to enter the workshop, enabling essential oils to be replenished without interfering with the service department.
Another request was to eliminate fluid spilt during waste collection. This was achieved through the installation of safe waste oil and coolant collection boards, ensuring a cleaner and safer workshop.
As vehicle hoists and wheel service formed a large component of this refurb, it was important to ensure the right products were selected for high levels of functionality and productivity.
“Getting the right alignment machine was the corner stone to this project. Selecting Hunter Engineering’s Hawkeye Elite in Porsche (VAG) configuration would ensure that all current and future demands would be met,” Precision Automotive Equipment’s Norm Wiley said.
After working closely with PCB’s Service Manager, Michael Smith, a machine with a wall mount camera system was decided upon. This design was chosen as it provided a clear floor in front of the alignment bay and allowed for a smaller bay footprint without effecting productivity while leaving plenty of room for Porsche’s radar alignment board.
Additionally, the Hunter RX45 VAG approved flush mounted alignment rack was requested to cater for the unique challenges of Porsche vehicles. This unique rack communicates with the alignment machine by locking and unlocking the turn plates and slip plates automatically. It also comes equipped with full rack LED lighting and has the ability to individually pump up each of the tyres thanks to its integrated inflation station.
PCB’s workshop refurb also included the supply and installation of Rotary full height scissor lifts and two post hoists. The Rotary DS35EX scissor lift fitted the brief thanks to its low 105mm collapsed height and 3,500kg lift capacity. To achieve a small footprint, the drive on ramps double up as load rated platform extensions, which make these hoists perfect for longer wheelbase SUVs, says Precision Automotive Equipment.
When attention turned to general service two posts hoists, the Rotary SPOA10 with 4,500kg lift capacity and unique three stage, low profile trio load arms were the perfect choice to suit the unique requirements of Porsche vehicles. Designed as a true asymmetric hoist, the SPOA10 allows the vehicle to be positioned so that, unlike conventional hoists, the post is not in the way of entering and exiting the vehicle. Removing this common contact point has greatly reduced the chance of accidental damage when opening doors, says Precision Automotive Equipment.
“The Porsche Centre Brighton project was a highly detailed, customer specific workshop refurb that the entire Precision Automotive Equipment Team is extremely proud of,” Precision Automotive Equipment National Sales Manager, Michael Bruce, said.
“This refurb required a great deal of our own design and fabrication work, utilising our team’s many years of experience to ensure that PCB’s workshop could operate more efficiently and cleanly, using state of the art equipment and bespoke designed oil, waste, air and coolant facilities.”
Precision Automotive Equipment says it provides the best of both worlds, from its vast equipment range to its unique ability to custom design, manufacture and install workshop equipment and apparatus for passenger car, commercial vehicle or heavy-duty servicing and repair workshop requirements.
