Craig Lowndes claims his seventh Bathurst 1000, his sixth using Sachs Shock Absorbers

The special victory came during his last season as a full-time Supercars driver.
Craig and co-driver, Steven Richards, finished the race without incident, coming from ninth position, to take out their seventh and fifth Bathurst wins respectively.
The seasoned drivers drew on their extensive experience to outlast their opponents, in a race which saw a much younger driver retire due to exhaustion, and others suffer a variety of mechanical faults and issues due to driver error.
“What an amazing finish! To have all the problems we had earlier in the week and then for us to bounce back as a team was really good,” Craig said.
“I couldn’t have asked for anything more to really have the track come to me at the end and for us it really was an incredible finish. I’ve never had such a big gap on the last lap and to be able to enjoy it.”
The result set up Craig and his Sachs equipped vehicle to clinch the Pirtek Enduro Cup after its last round, the Gold Coast 600, came to a premature end due to severe weather.
Across the field, Sachs reports that more than 50 percent of the vehicles participating in The Great Race relied on Sachs shock absorbers to provide the suspension and handling needed to withstand the gruelling 1000km long race and the unpredictable track conditions.
Sachs says shock absorbers are one of the most crucial tuning devices on a Supercar, ensuring maximum performance and prolonged tyre life.
Not only does Craig depend on Sachs shock absorbers in his Autobarn Lowndes Racing Holden Commodore, but the team’s truck and transporter are fitted with shock absorbers from factory. Sachs offers an extensive range of shock absorbers for commercial vehicles.
In the passenger car aftermarket, Sachs has a shock absorber solution for 95 percent of the cars in Australia older than five years, including European, American, Asian and locally produced models.
The partnership with Craig sees Sachs branding placed across the top windscreen of his vehicle as well as on his distinctive helmet, and his race suit.
Locally, Sachs motorsport products are available through Triple Eight Race Engineering, while the full range of Sachs shock absorbers and clutches for road cars and commercial vehicles is available through ZF Services Australia.
