The Australian Auto Aftermarket Expo is one of the finest areas to showcase the ingenuity and talent inherent in our industry’s engineers

Many of these engineers are members of the Society of Automotive Engineers Australasia (SAE-A) through their participation in a university competition called Formula SAE-A.
The competition enables students to display their engineering prowess through the design and manufacture of their own open wheel motor racing vehicle, and then compete with Universities around Australia and overseas.
Attracting more than 1000 people, the event is run annually with the electric vehicle category dominating the competition including a growing autonomous vehicle element, currently a demonstration category.
The competition still includes the internal combustion engine segment but with a diminishing number of universities participating.
Designing and building these vehicles while completing an engineering degree means that once these young engineers graduate, they are ready to work with practical hands-on experience – a big plus for future employers.
