HONDA AUSTRALIA ADDS NEW SOFTWARE TO AASRA PORTAL

The Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme sees Aftermarket workshops on level pegging with dealership service departments for the first time

Honda Australia has added its i-HDS J2534 diagnostic software to the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme.
Access to this data is available for one day ($40+), 30 days ($300+) or one year ($2000+), explained Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority (AASRA) Executive Officer, Rodger Nardi.
“This allows a workshop to either buy the genuine VCI (DST-i) or use their own J2534 pass-thru tool,” Rodger said.
“Many recent aftermarket scan tools have the J2534 function. Using a generic J2534 VCI for Honda will not allow key coding or immobiliser access. Both these require a VSP AASRA account and the Honda DST-I hardware.
“To access, on the AASRA Honda page select ‘Diagnostic Tool Link’ and then at the top, select ‘Honda Diagnostic Update 12.02.24’ for laptop specs.”
J2534 pass-thru is now available across many brands, which often shows any technical service bulletins or if the vehicle’s software is out of date on an ECU or controller. J2534 also facilitates re-programming an ECU/module.
“Moving forward software updates will become a greater portion of workshop diagnostic procedures and in turn workshop profit,” Rodger said.
“For most brands a software diagnostic programme is downloaded to your laptop; you then select the software update or re-programming file, which passes through from the car company’s server to your laptop, then via your J2534 interface VCI into the OBD11 port to deploy to the controller.”
J2534 software is available for the following brands: Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Citroen, Dodge, Ferrari, Fiat, Ford, GM, Honda, Isuzu, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Lexus, Mahindra, Mini, Mitsubishi, Polestar, Peugeot, RAM, Renault, Rolls Royce, Skoda, Toyota, VW and Volvo.
To view all the car company’s pricing by day, month, and year, visit www.aasra.com.au and select ‘Automotive Websites’ from the left hand menu. You may also find the PDFs on the home page titled ‘Joining Help’ and ‘Navigation’ helpful.
Any EV or hybrid access requires an EV training certificate, and to access security (key, immobiliser, ECU, PATS etc.) requires Security approval.
“If using genuine software saves you 30 minutes, it has paid for itself. You bill the subscription fee to the job and then use the 30-minute gain on another job,” Rodger said.
“Using genuine information will result in higher year end profits.”
