Rubber-metal components play a critical role in vehicle comfort, handling, and performance

Some of the most important components in a vehicle’s steering and suspension system are also among the easiest to overlook.
Bushes, engine and transmission mounts, strut mounts, and other rubber-metal components may appear simple, but their role is anything but.
Engineered to control movement, absorb impacts, and isolate vibration, they can have a significant influence on vehicle comfort, handling, and safety.
A suspension bush forms an elastic connection between the chassis and components such as control arms, links, and subframes. It must allow controlled movement while absorbing road impacts and isolating vibration, making the characteristics of the rubber and its bond with the metal critical to ride comfort and handling.
Engine and transmission mounts perform an equally demanding task. In addition to supporting the powertrain, they are engineered to isolate engine and transmission vibration from the vehicle body while helping prevent chassis vibration being transferred back into the powertrain.
