Young star Lex Gelmi shines bright to claim Young Achiever recognition

Multiple Pedders franchisee Lex Gelmi has been declared as the winner of the AAAA Kim Aunger Young Achiever Award.
Lex’s dedication, leadership, and innovation have significantly contributed to the automotive aftermarket industry, embodying the spirit of excellence and forward-thinking exemplified by the late Kim Aunger, the award’s namesake.
Lex has consistently pursued additional education to enhance his skills in leadership and innovation – crucial for success in the automotive aftermarket industry – including actively seeking out-of-hours training covering areas such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), People Management, and Effective Communication.
Lex’s career achievements further underscore his exceptional leadership and commitment to excellence.
At the age of 25, Lex became Pedders’ youngest State Manager, showcasing his exceptional leadership capabilities and industry acumen.
Lex would also go on to attain the prestigious status of Pedders Master Technician, showcasing his technical expertise and dedication to his craft, and to be recognised as Pedders/Bosch Technician of the Year.
At 28 years of age, Lex’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to purchase his first franchise in 2018, which has since become a multi-award-winning establishment, a testament to his business acumen and leadership.
In 2022, Lex once again assumed the role of State Manager to support Pedders through a major internal system change, demonstrating his adaptability and commitment to the organisation’s success.
Lex then expanded his franchise empire by opening a second location in Rockingham in 2024, further solidifying his reputation as an industry leader and innovator.
As part of the Pedders ERP development group, Lex plays a pivotal role in the ongoing development of Pedders’ workshop IQ business software, showcasing his commitment to driving innovation and efficiency within the organisation.
Lex epitomises the qualities honoured by the Kim Aunger Young Achiever Award. Through his exemplary leadership, tireless dedication to self-improvement, and unwavering commitment to innovation, Lex has made a lasting and positive impact on the automotive aftermarket industry.
Lex was thrilled to be declared as the winner of the Kim Aunger Young Achiever Award.
“It is a great honour to be recognised by the industry with this award,” Lex said.
“This recognition does come as a bit of a surprise as I don’t consider myself to be doing anything that anyone else in my position couldn’t do with the right attitude and work ethic.
“I am very fortunate that throughout my career in the mechanical industry, and in particular with Pedders Suspension and Brakes to date, that I have been in the right place to take on some great opportunities and I have made sure that I always give 100 percent effort to maximise those opportunities.”
Pedders’ Chief Executive Officer, Scott Pedder, accepted the Award on Lex’s behalf at the AAA Excellence Awards Banquet.
